HC FRIBOURG GOTTÉRON vs EV ZUG 2-1 (SO)
Fribourg Gottéron earned a 2-1 shootout comeback home win against Zug at the end of a very enjoyable game!
Dragons and Bulls gifted the fans with a playoffs night. The game was intense, hard-fought, physical and emotional. Overall, we think it’s safe to day that Dan Tangnes troops played a better hockey… but we think it’s also safe to say that Christian Dubé’s guys deserved the win because of the impressive team and fighting spirit that they put on display!
Both teams then, could count on two top class goalies who were at the top of their game. That’s the reason why, the game was still goalless at the second break.
The turning point seemed to come during the early stages of the last third, when Gregory Hofmann put Zug ahead. It could have been a huge blow for Fribourg. And instead, the hosts proved to have an above-average character for the umpteenth time. They fought hard, they brought in a lot of emotions… and for that, they were deservedly rewarded during the latest stages of the game when David Desharnais tied things up!
Everything could happen at that point. And it happened that the game went to shootouts after a very exciting overtime period. Shootouts series during which David Desharnais and Viktor Stalberg earned the extra point for the Dragons!
Dragons who extended their winning run to 4-games and who now would seriously deserve to make the playoffs.
THE GUY ON FIRE
David Desharnais (HC Fribourg Gottéron)
Both goalies were impressive. Finally though, David Desharnais – top class! – made the difference as he scored the tying goal and also a goal during the shootout series.
