Ambrì-Piotta and Lausanne face each other for the fourth time this season and for the second time at the Valascia. So far, there was no deal to make for the Leventinesi. The Lions Vaudois in fact, won all the previous three head to head.
Let’s see the two teams’ form.
The last game
Ambrì-Piotta is coming off the 3-2 shootout road defeat suffered against Davos that followed the 5-1 road defeat suffered against Lugano. Luca Cereda’s troops are dealing with countless injuries and won only 4 of their last 15 games. At home, however, they’ve been undefeated since 3 games and despite all the absences they’re very much alive!
Lausanne is coming off the umpteenth emotionless performance delivered last night against Lugano that led to a 3-2 shootout home defeat that extended the winless run to 3-games. As we said many times, in our opinion the Lions Vaudois are capable of being totally dominant, and when they are, they are impressive… but tihs is something that doesn’t happen enough times. And it’s always difficult to know what to expect from them before a game.
The last two times that OT/SO were required to establish a winner when Ambrì-Piotta and Lausanne faced each other, the Lions Vaudois earned the extra point. The last time that the Leventinesi earned a OT/SO win against Lausanne dates back to January 3rd, 2015. That day, at the Valascia, Ambrì-Piotta earned a 3-2 shootout win. During the 60 minutes of play, Alexei Dostoinov and Alain Birmaum scored for the hosts while Etienne Froideveaux scored both goals for the visitors.
