HC FRIBOURG GOTTÉRON vs SC BERN 2-3 (OT)
Bern earned a 3-2 overtime road win against Fribourg Gottéron. It wasn’t a very good hockey game but it certainly was a hard-fought one.
Considering the two teams’ current situation, it was unthinkable to expect champagne hockey. However, as said, both teams fought hard. The Bears almost immediately took the lead with Tristan Scherwey, but after that the hosts were more active in the offensive zone and that fact allowed them to score the well-deserved tying goal with Nathan Marchon during a PP opportunity.
It must be said that, overall, the rest of the game was quite balanced. Both teams had their ups and downs. Both teams made way too many unforced mistakes. And in fact, for most of the game, the two goalies were the best players on ice. It was therefore not an accident that the score remained unchanged until the early stages of the third period of play, when Mark Arcobello restored the lead for the visitors.
That could have been a huge blow for Gottéron. The Dragons though, reacted well and their perseverance paid off at 10 minutes to the end, when Julien Sprunger tied things up for the second time of the night.
Everything could happen from that moment on. And it happened that, 4 minutes and 26 seconds into the overtime period, Simon Moser deflected a shot of Mark Arcobello and earned Bern the extra point!
THE GUY ON FIRE
Both goalies were at the top of their game. Finally though, Mark Arcobello played a crucial role for the win of Bern!
