SC Bern vs HC Fribourg Gottéron 4-2
Bern earned a 4-2 home win against Fribourg Gottéron and therefore won 3 consecutive games for the first time this season!
Let us say it at once, the Zähringen derby was fun. It was a hard fought game and we think it’s safe to say that both teams delivered a good performance and could have won this one.
What was impressive about Bern compared to the recent past, however, was the players body language. After 7 minutes and 56 seconds of play the Bears went ahead thanks to Mark Arcobello who scored during the first power-play opportunity of the night… but then, as the game went on, Gottéron created several good scoring chances and scored the tying goal with Ryan Gunderson already before the first break. The visitors’ hard work then paid off shortly before the half-an-hour mark… Dubé’s guys in fact, firstly proved rock solid penalty killers and then scored their second goal of the night with Daniel Brodin!
it was right at that time, however, that Jalonen’s troops body language was impressive compared to the recent past. It was clear in fact that they didn’t panic… and actually, always during a power-play opportunity, tied things up with Thomas Ruefenacht shortly before the second break. And then, during the final third, they came back with every intention of earning a third consecutive win. Mission accomplished, as as 10 minutes to the end of a hard fought third period of play, Simon Moser scored the game winning goal!
During the final stages then, Tristan Scherwey scored an empty-netter that set the 4-2 final score.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Perhaps Bern are too dependent on Mark Arcobello in terms of scoring goals… yet guys, what a player!
