It’s Swiss Cup time! Between today – November 25th – and tomorrow – November 26th – the quarterfinals of the tournament are scheduled.
The first game will be played tonight at the Tissot Arena, where Bienne host Langnau. Let’s have a look at the full schedule.
EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SCL TIGERS
Bienne and Langnau face each other in the Swiss Cup for the first time in history. Both teams’ best result in the competition is the semifinal reached once. Bienne made it to the top 4 in 2017-18 while Langnau in 2018-19. Who will be able to make it to the semifinal for the second time in history?
HC DAVOS vs SC BERN
Davos and Bern never faced each other in the Swiss Cup. The Bears won the tournament once (2014-15, first edition) and made it two other times to the semifinals, including last season. The Ibexes for their part made it once all the way to the final (2017-18) but lost it against Rapperswil.
SC RAPPERSWIL-JONA LAKERS vs EV ZUG
Rapperswil vs Zug is a classic of the Swiss Cup. Rappi and Bulls are the two finalists of last season (Zug won the Swiss Cup) and had faced each other also at the quarterfinal stages of the 2017-18 competition when Rappi (back then a Swiss League side) earned a 5-1 win. Both teams won the Swiss Cup one time. Rapperswil won in 2017-18 while Zug last season.
HC AJOIE vs ZSC LIONS
Ajoie are the only Swiss League side still in the competition and host the ZSC Lions. The two teams faced each other already in the Swiss Cup back on October 22nd, 2017. On that occasion, it was 1/8 final day and… and Ajoie earned a 5-4 overtime win! We mean, the Lions have the chance to make it up for that terrible day of two years ago.
Enjoy the games, guys!
