It’s Monday, and just like every Monday it’s time to talk about the Ticino Rockets!

Let’s see immediately what happened during the only game played last week.

HC Biasca Ticino Rockets vs EHC Winterthur 3-6

The Rockets got off to a good start and then even took the lead thanks to the shorthanded goal scored by Anthony Neuenschwander after 15 minutes of play. Then, they missed the chance to extend their lead… and during the final stages of the first period Winterthur scored the tying goal with Lucas Bachofner. The hosts increased their level of play after the break and went ahead in the score thanks to Riley Brace, but shortly after that the Rockets scored the tying goal with Marco Cavalleri. Always during the central period, however, Winterthur restored their lead with Matin Alihodzic… and despite the Ticinesi attempts, the hosts extended their lead during the third period with Tim Wieser. At about 5 minutes to the end then, Max Gerlach made it a brand new game for the Ticino Rockets, but during the latest stages of the game the hosts set the 6-3 final score with Tim Wieser and Riley Brace.

And yet, something has changed…

There is no denying that Ticino Rockets’ results are negative. Even though, there were also successes… the last one in order of time, the impact that Dario Meyer had in Zug. Dario had played with Davos and with the Ticino Rockets earlier this season and now he’s playing with the Bulls on loan. Well, the 23 years old forward immediately proved to fit well in Dan Tangnes’ system of play. The fans of Zug are happy with Dario Meyer’s performances and the latter even scored his first National League goal of the season on Saturday night in Langnau.

A goal that, one way or another, must make also the Ticino Rockets happy.

Then again, it’s obvious that if you just look at the results of Reinhard and Reuille’s troops… well, they’re just poor.

After 22 games played, the Rockets earned only 1 point more compared to 12 months ago. Last season, they’d earned 12 points after 22 games while this season they earned 13.

The number of goal against on the other hand remained unchanged. Last season the Ticinesi conceded 91 goals after 22 games, exactly like this season.

Yet, something has changed a lot for the better. We’re talking about the number of goals scored. Last season, the Rockets had scored 32 goals after 22 games… this season instead, always after 22 games, they scored 53. That’s a huge step forward.

Always talking about last season then, the Rockets had suffered defeats with a 3.72 goals average margin after 22 games. This season instead, the Ticino Rockets suffered defeats with “only” a 2.36 goals margin.

We mean, these are step forwards. Due to the fact that now the team is more talented and can count on more skilled forwards. And certainly due to the fact that Reinhard and Reuille are doing a good job.

And due also to the fact, but this is a constant, that the whole club is always trying its hardest in a very difficult context.

Now, we don’t want to sound eternal optimist. Even though it’s clear that, when it comes to the Ticino Rockets, we are biased because we care about the project. However, guys, there is no denying that the Ticino Rockets are improving.

The point is that when you judge the Rockets, you can’t look only at the final scores of the games. You must also take all the players who played in Biasca and are now in the National League into consideration. Because all those players, are the club’s real success!

Go Rockets, Go!

Wednesday 27.11.2019 – HC Biasca Ticino Rockets vs EHC Visp

Rockets and Visp face each other for the third time this season and for the second time in Biasca. The Sédunois clearly won the previous two head to head (7-3 away and 6-2 at home)… moreover, they’re coming off 3 consecutive wins and won 5 of their last 6 games. These results allowed them to climb the table up to the current 3rd place, only 3 points behind the league leaders Ajoie and with a game in hand. We mean, there is no denying that Visp are the favourites for this game.

The last time that the Ticino Rockets won at home against Visp dates back to January 15th, 2017. On that occasion, the guys back then coached by Luca Cereda earned a 3-2 win thanks to the goals scored by Giacomo Dal Pian, Elia Riva and Matteo Romanenghi. Three players who are currently playing in the National League.

Friday 29.11.2019 – HC Thurgau vs HC Biasca Ticino Rockets

Thurgau and Rockets face each other for the third time this season. Also in this case, the Rockets lost both previous two head to head (4-2 at home, 1-0 away). Thurgau are perhaps the real surprise of the season, they’re currently 4th placed and won 7 of their last 10 games. Moreover, they have the best home record of the Swiss League. It will be another complicated game for the Ticinesi.

The Ticino Rockets won only 1 of the 13 games played against Thurgau in history. It happened on January 10th, 2017, when they earned a 7-3 road win thanks to the goals scored by Alessandro Zanatta, Patrick Incir (2), Matteo Romanenghi (2), Roman Hrabec and Christian Stucki.

Sunday 01.12.2019 – HC Biasca Ticino Rockets vs EHC Olten

It will be the third time also that Rockets and Olten face each other this season. And, also in this case, the Rockets lost both the previous two head to head. In Olten, however, they went very close to the win, as they suffered only a 2-1 shootout defeat. To date, Olten are 6th placed but won 8 of their last 10 games played.

The Rockets never won against Olten in history after 13 atempts. In three cases, however, they went close when they suffered two shootouts defeat and one overtime defeat. Will there be the first time ever this Sunday?

Have a great week, Rockets, keep it up and… GOROCKETSGO!
