Bern are coming off the 3-1 road defeat suffered last night against Langnau that extended their winless run to 4-games. The Bears won only 2 of their last 8 games played. Moreover, they also won only 3 of their last 8 home games, and all the three win were overtime/shootout ones… in other words, the Bears’ last home 3-points win goes back to late September, when they won 4-1 against Ambrì-Piotta. What else can we add? Then again, Bern have all it takes to turn things around from one moment to another… will the “moment” be tonight? We’ll have the answers at about 10pm.
The ZSC Lions are coming off the clear and all in all comfortable 7-2 home win earned against Lugano that followed the 3-2 win earned against Ambrì-Piotta on the road. The Lions won 7 of their last 8 games played, and the only defeat they suffered in Bienne came after overtime. We mean, these figures are enough to understand why Rikard Grönborg’s troops are on fire and deservedly the league leaders. Also their late away record is noteworthy, as they won 3 of their last 4 games played on the road.
The ZSC Lions won only 1 of the last 5 regular season games played at the PostFinance Arena against Bern. It happened on January 12th, 2018, when they won 4-2 thanks to the goals scored by Jérôme Bachofner, Roman Wick, Inti Pestoni and Fredrik Pettersson. The Bears’ scorers were Maxim Noreau and Tristan Scherwey.
