When it comes to talented Swiss players who are currently playing in the National League, Gaëtan Haas is surely in the list.
Gaëtan is improving every year and is becoming a very complete forward. During the last playoffs, he played a key role for the Bears even though he couldn’t play all the games because of an injury.
At times, he played even in the fourth line. And that proves his ductility. That is, he’s a player capable of gifting fans with moments of magic hockey but also the one who can take one for the team. Moreover, he can put the puck in the net… also during last season he scored a lot, as usual.
Our friend “The Last Frontier” sent us a video of Gaëtan Haas’ best moments of the 2018-19 season. Without further ado, here is the video.
Thank you “The Last Frontier”. We strongly suggest you to visit his You Tube channel and to subscribe.
Talent… accuracy… calm… determination… speed… this is Gaëtan Haas!
Gaëtan was never drafted by an NHL team. But it doesn’t mean that he will never play overseas… his skills and performances in fact, surely have not gone unnoticed among the NHL scouts.
Obviously we wish him to make his dream come true and to make it to the most prestigious league in the world. Even though, selfishly, we’d like him to stay in Switzerland.
Gaëtan Haas grew up playing in Bienne’s youth organization and right with the Seeländers made his NLA debut during the 2009-10 season. The first coach who gave him confidence was Kent Ruhnke, and on October 3rd, 2009, Gaëtan Haas was in the teamsheet when Bienne hosted Fribourg Gottéron.
For the record, that game ended with the Seeländers who earned a 4-0 win thanks to the goals scored by Richard Jackman, Martin Steinegger (!), Stefan Tschannen and Rico Fata.
During that first NLA season, Gaëtan Haas collected a total of 14 regular season appearances and 7 playouts appearances. Overall, he tallied 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) and therefore was able to score his first goal as professional.
His first goal came on January 17th, 2010… when the Seeländers hosted the ZSC Lions and suffered a painful 3-6 defeat. Gaëtan, however, was able to score his first National League goal during the latest stages of the game.
From that moment on, Gaëtan Haas has never stopped improving. In Bienne, he remained until the end of the 2016-17 season, playing the last three seasons as assistant captain.
After that, he moved to the “rivals” of Bern. That was a transfer that, at least initially, raised some controversy. With the Bears though, Gaëtan Haas improved even more and became the great player we all know today.
In the Swiss Capital it took him no time to adapt… and already during the first game with the Bears, against Fribourg Gottéron, he scored shorthanded after 28 minutes and 7 seconds.
Goal Haas – Min: 01:45
And now, he’s among the most feared Swiss forwards around. A forward who, even though he’s only 27, he’s already collected 457 NLA appearances enriched with 220 points. And, of course, he doesn’t want to stop now… the future looks bright for him!
