EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SC BERN

Bienne won the first two games of the series while Bern were able to earn a clear 6-2 win in game-3. Tonight game-4 is scheduled at the Tissot Arena and it’s not gonna be a suitable game for the faint of heart… will the Seeländers be able to win and therefore earn 3 match points? Or will Bern win and get back level in the series?

SEMIFINAL – GAME-4 – 02.04.2019

EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SC BERN – Tissot Arena – 20:00

Bienne lost game-3 but there is no need to lose sleep… despite the 6-2 defeat suffered and despite the fact that Bern proved really strong in fact, Antti Törmänen’s troops had their chances to win game-3. Especially during the early stages of the game when they could have taken the lead and during the third period when they were still “only” 2-goals down. We mean, no drama… and in with game-4 to be played in front of their fans!

WHAT DID WORK

Scoring chances

Regardless of everything, Bienne are great when it comes to create clear scoring opportunities. The Seeländers are seriously able to be effective in the offensive zone and can put the Bears into big trouble. Let us not forget, moreover, that Törmänen’s guys are proving much better than Bern at face-offs.

WHAT CAN IMPROVE

Power-play

Bienne had 6 power-play opportunities during the first three games of the series. Not many, Bern are an extremely disciplined side, after all. Yet, during these few situations, Bienne should be able to put the puck in the net more often. So far, they’ve been scoring only 1 power-play goal in this semifinal.

THE PLAYER “ON FIRE”

Damien Brunner

Damien Brunner can put the puck in the net regularly and scored already 3 goals in three semifinal games. He’s in a very good shape, he’s experienced and has the right winning mindset… he can give Bienne a great contribution!

One can say: “finally, Bern!”. Finally in fact, during game-3 of the semifinal, it looked like Bern kicked started their playoffs for real. The performance delivered Saturday night at the PostFinance Arena was very good. The Bears crowled out of their den and were finally more agressive than previously. We are expecting them to confirm their attitude tonight.

WHAT DID WORK

Game-3

During game-3, Bern have done what they should always do. The Bears were disciplined as usual… to that, however, they added the right amount of aggressiveness and “emotions” that should never miss during a playoffs game. Let us not forget, moreover, that Bern are proving to be very effective during power-play opportunities.

WHAT CAN IMPROVE

Defense

It seems strange to talk about “defense” when it comes to things that can improve for Bern… the truth is, however, that Jalonen’s troops are yet to find a way to prevent Bienne from creating clear scoring chances.

THE PLAYER “ON FIRE”

Andrew Ebbett

We were saying: “finally, Bern”. And to that we add… finally, Andrew Ebbett! The Canadian forward finally kick started his playoffs in game-3 when he was at the top of his game. That’s great news for the Bears.
