HC Fribourg Gottéron – Genève Servette HC 2-3
Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.
Fribourg Gottéron vs Genève Servette was one of those games not really suitable for the faint of heart. It was one of those games during which you seriously need to have guts… during which only if you’re totally committed from start to finish you can have success.
In such a context, Genève Servette’s 3-2 away win was well-deserved!
Chris McSorley’s troops were commendable. Frankly speaking, almost touching. Considering the circumstances, and considering that they were up against the wall, they were able to put an impressive team and fighting spirit on display. This allowed them to take a 3-goals lead in a matter of 22 minutes and 33 seconds. John Fritsche scored during the first period while Kevin Romy (shorthanded!) and Michael Völlmin scored during the early stages of the second period!
Only at that point Fribourg Gottéron, with an almost shameful delay, seriously started – slowly – to increase their level of intensity… but the Eagles were able to handle the situation pretty well. Until the last 10 minutes of play, when finally the Dragons performed like they should have done from the beginning and this allowed then to make it a brand new game with Jim Slater and Sebastian Schilt!
Too little, too late. Genève Servette continued to fight hard and could travel back home with three well-deserved – and crucial – points in their pockets.
