Liam Lawson is set to make his comeback during the United States Grand Prix. Following five appearances in 2023, he will now take over Daniel Ricciardo’s seat on a full-time basis. The young New Zealander has never raced at the Circuit of the Americas, but he is nonetheless excited to be back on the grid. According to race director Alan Permane, Lawson is exceptionally well-prepared for this opportunity.
Excitement for the Challenge Ahead
“I’m thrilled to get my chance to drive the VCARB 01 for the first time,” Liam Lawson stated in an official press release. “During my time as a reserve driver, I visited COTA several times. I believe it has become one of my favorite venues to attend; the atmosphere is electric. Although I have yet to race here, I have spent considerable time in the simulator getting to know the circuit.”
Understanding the Circuit’s Unique Features
Lawson believes that the track near Austin boasts notorious combinations of corners and elevation changes. “The circuit has a fantastic layout,” he noted. “I am looking forward to racing here. I am just grateful to be back in Formula 1 and to collaborate with the team to achieve the best possible results.” Liam’s ultimate goal has been clear for some time: securing a seat with sister team Red Bull.
Preparation is Key for the Sprint Weekend
“We’re heading to the Circuit of the Americas for the first event of a triple header,” Alan Permane elaborated. “This track is cherished by both drivers and teams—featuring numerous challenges, from high-speed corners that require quick directional changes to heavy braking zones and lengthy throttle-holding turns.”
Liam’s Welcome Return to the Cockpit
Permane added, “This weekend, we’re excited to welcome Liam Lawson back into the cockpit. Given that this is a sprint weekend, he has .comy an hour to practice before we dive into the race sessions. Fortunately, he has dedicated ample time in the simulator to familiarize himself with the track and the car’s setup. He is as prepared as he can be for this challenge.”
This weekend’s event presents Lawson with an opportunity to showcase his skills in front of the Formula 1 world. As the stakes rise, the spotlight will shine brightly on this promising driver as he aims to make a lasting impression. With high hopes from both the team and fans alike, Lawson is poised not just to compete but to thrive in this intense and challenging environment.
