It’s not up to as to talk about the coronavirus emergency. It’s certainly not our place to undermine any decision of the authorities. When it comes to sport instead and considering this delicate situation right now, we let ourselves express our thoughts. Wouldn’t it be better to stop the season until March 15th or further notice? After that, if possible, play the last regular season games and the playoffs with best-of-3 or best-of-5 series. Otherwise, maybe cancelling the whole season would be wise. To play games behind closed doors means to distort this beautiful sport. Hockey is FOR fans after all.
Lugano and Ambrì-Piotta face each other for the sixth time this season. The Leventinesi won 3 of the previous 5 head to head. Let’s not call this game a derby though… it will be the saddest game between Bianconeri and Biancoblù in history.
Let’s see the two teams’ form.
The last game
Lugano is coming off the 4-1 road win earned last night against Rapperswil that put a 3-games losing streak to an end but that, most and above all, allowed the Bianconeri to have their destiny in their own hands. To make it simple, if Lugano wins the game the playoffs are a done deal. Otherwise, the Bianconeri need to hope that Bern don’t win in Lausanne.
Ambrì-Piotta is coming off the 3-0 home win earned against Davos last night thanks to an excellent team performance that put a 5-games losing streak to an end. The Leventinesi, who lost all their last 7 road games, are certain to miss the playoffs but must earn points in order to avoid the playout final.
Lugano and Ambrì-Piotta face each other behind closed doors. Without fans. That’s so sad.
