EV ZUG vs SCL TIGERS 5-4 (SO)
Zug and Langnau gifted the fans (on tv…) with a very eventful and even fun game played in a surreal environment. Finally, the Bulls earned a 5-4 shootout win. All in all, deservedly so. But the Tigers deserve a big round of applause.
The hosts took a 2-goals lead thanks to Jan Kovar who scored twice in a matter of 13 minutes and 29 seconds of play and the game seemed already over. Even though, already before the first break, Julian Schmutz scored the first goal for the visitors.
After 6 minutes and 7 seconds of central period, however, the game seemed over for real when Sven Leuenberger restored the 2-goals lead for Zug. And instead, it was exactly at that moment that Langnau fought hard… and thanks to day, by the early stages of the last third, the Tigers turned the score around with Nolan Diem, Julian Schmutz and again Nolan Diem!
At that poin, the momentum was favorable for the Tigers, who even had few chances to kill the game. The Bulls never gave up though, and scored the tying goal with Sven Senteler at 27 seconds to the end of the game… and then, during the shootout series, earned the extra point thanks to Gregory Hofmann who was the only one able to put the puck in the net.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Regardless of the level of the performance, Gregory Hofmann was the only one able to score during the shootout series. This fact, allowed Zug to be at the top of the table on its own on the eve of the last RS game.
