HC Davos vs SC Bern 4-2 – Recap, game stats and video highlights!

Davos earned a 4-2 home win against Bern and proved itself to be ready for the upcoming playoffs!

The Bears got off to a start that was very similar to the one of the game against Lugano last week-end. It took them only 132 seconds of play in order to take the lead thanks to Jan Mursak who scored during the first PP opportunity of the night. Then, however, the Ibexes fought hard. They played a physical game and even though the game was balanced in terms of scoring chances… they proved that they wanted this win at all costs. And they showed some real character too.

The hosts’ efforts paid off during the early stages of the central period with the tying goal scored by Lukas Stoop. But most and above all, Christian Wohlwend’s guys showed what they’re really made off after the half-an-hour mark… that is, after that Inti Pestoni restored the lead for Bern. During the last 8 minutes of the second period in fact, Davos increased furthermore its level of play and was able to turn the score around with Sven Jung and Fabrice Herzog!

At that point, we expected a fierce reaction from the visitors after the second break. The reaction there was but it wasn’t as fierce as one could expect. Also because, it must be said, the Ibexes put an impressive fighting spirit on display that allowed them, by the way, to set the 4-2 final score with Mattias Tedenby at 6 minutes to the end!

It was a very good performance for Davos that can still finish the regular season at the top of the table. We expected something more from Bern. Overall, anyway, it was a nice hockey game. A game that certainly also Lugano watched… the Bianconeri, thanks to this result, have now the fate in their hands again.

Christian Wohlwend (Coach, HC Davos)

Davos delivered an excellent team performance. Most and above all, regardless of the level of the performance, the Ibexes have been increasing the level of their physical play lately. We mean, it lookes like Davos is ready for the playoffs. Great job, Christian Wohlwend!
