Oliver Heinen is one of the many young talents who are playing for Davos. He’s a defenseman born on May 31st, 2000, and he played junior hockey with Visp in Valais. Starting from the 2016-17 season instead, he is in Davos… where he started to play with the U17-Elit, then with the U20-Elite and finally also with the first team!
He made his National League debut on January 5th, 2019, when Davos back then under Harijs Vitolinsh played against Zug on the road and suffered a 5-3 defeat. Despite the young age, and despite the fact, that he is a defenseman, it didn’t take Oliver long to score his first National League points…
Oliver Heinen – First NL point (assist)
Few weeks after his debut with the first team in fact, Oliver Heinen scored his first National League point. It was January 22nd, 2019, when the Ibexes played against Ambrì-Piotta on the road and suffered a 4-2 defeat. Nevertheless, Oliver had an assist while Perttu Lindgren scored the second goal of the visitors!
Last season he collected a total of 18 appearances with Davos and even played two playout final games against Rapperswil. Overall, he tallied 3 points. All assists.
This season then, Oliver Heinen played with the U20-Elit of Davos, with the Ticino Rockets and with the first team of the Ibexes coached by Christian Wohlwend. Until when, on Friday night, February 21st, 2020, it came the night he will never forget…
Oliver Heinen – First NL goal
A year and a month after his first National League point in fact, Oliver Heinen scored his first goal in the top tier of Swiss hockey! Davos hosted Langnau at the Eisstadion, earned a 5-2 win… and Oliver Heinen scored the second goal of the night for the hosts assisted by Tino Kessler and Fabrice Herzog!
February 21st, 2020 is certainly a day Oliver Heinen will never forget. But we haven’t heard the last of this guy…
