It’s Monday, and just like every Monday it’s time to talk about the Ticino Rockets!
Unfortunately last week the guys suffered two defeats. Let’s have a look…
GAMES OF LAST WEEK
HC Biasca Ticino Rockets vs HC Ajoie 2-7
The Rockets stood up to Ajoie for approximately half of the game… but they everything went south. Reinhard and Reuille’s troops took the lead thanks to Loic Vedova after only 18 seconds of play but the visitors scored the (shorthanded!) tying goal shortly after half of the first period with Jordane Hauert. During the early stages of the central period then, Ajoie turned the score around with Stefan Mäder and at the half-an-hour mark Marco Cavalleri tied things up for the Ticino Rockets. From that moment on, however, Ajoie made the difference… Devid Muller (hat-trick!), Bastien Pouilly and Nicolas Thibodeau scored and set the 2-7 final score.
HC Biasca Ticino Rockets vs GCK Lions 3-4 (OT)
The GCK Lions earned a 4-3 overtime win at the Cornèr Arena. The Rockets got off to a great start of the game and took a 2-goals lead thanks to Jerome Portman and Marc Camichel in a matter of few minutes. Always during the first period, however, the Lions scored their first goal of the day with Dominik Hardmeier… and then, during the central period, they turned the score around with Victor Backman and Ryan Hayes. The Ticino Rockets reacted during the last third and their efforts paid off at 57 seconds to the end, when Tino Kessler scored the tying goal. 3 minutes and 14 seconds into the overtime period though, Ryan Heyes earned the win for the visitors.
OUR THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
From now on, it’s do or die!
Today, Monday, January 20th 2020, we had the great pleasure to spend an afternoon in Biasca with the Ticino Rockets. Firstly we attended the training session and then we had the chance to talk to two players and to have a pleasant conversation with the two coaches Alex Reinhard and Sebastien Reuille. About this afternoon, we’ll publish a reportage in the coming days. Meanwhile, we thak already for the availability and the kindness.
Today instead, we want to focus on the last part of the season. Because from now on, all the games will be “do or die”. The Rockets are currently at the bottom of the table but are only 2 points behind the 11th placed Winterthur. This means that there is still the chance to avoid the dangerous League Qualification series against the winners of the MySports League.
It’s worth remember in fact that, once the regular season will be over, the last four teams on the table will play 6 more games in order to establish the final ranking between the 9th and 12th place. After that, the team that will be at the bottom of the table will play the League Qualification series. It would be a great success and a godsend for the Rockets to avoid this series.
We mean, from that moment on, there are no excuses. The guys need positive support from everybody!
There are 6 regular season games left to play. In the order, the Rockets will face Sierre, Kloten, Winterthur, Visp, Thurgau and Olten. Six difficult but not impossible games for this group that – unfortunately in an almost general indifference – put their heart and soul in what they’re doing and way too often their efforts don’t pay off.
This season the Ticino Rockets earned already 9 points more compared to the last one. And now that there are 6 games left to play, they earned only 1 point more compared to the previous two seasons at the end of the regular season. We mean, steps forward are impressive. And we’re pretty sure that, with some more support, several tight losses could turn into tight wins.
We will try to do our part from now and until the end of the season. We’ll talk more about the Ticino Rockets.
Let’s see the next games…
Tuesday 21.01.2020 – HC Biasca Ticino Rockets vs HC Sierre
This will be a very important game for the Rockets who will host Sierre. To note that Sierre are in good form as they won 2 of their last 3 games played. However, they won only 2 of their last 8 on the road.
The Rockets never won against Sierre in history. The Sédunois in fact, won all the previous three face to face this season.
Saturday 25.01.2020 – EHC Kloten vs HC Biasca Ticino Rockets
The Ticino Rockets will travel to Kloten to face the current league leaders. The Airmen won 9 of their last 10 games and won 8 of their last 10 played at home. We mean, we’re talking about the most in-form team of the league.
The Rockets never won against Kloten in history. It must be said, however, that this season they always stood up to them. Two times out of three this season in fact, the shootout series was required in order to establish the winners when these two teams faced each other.
Have a good week Rockets!
