ZSC LIONS vs HC LUGANO 1-2
Lugano earned a 2-1 road win against the ZSC Lions thanks to an excellent and smart team performance.
The game between Lions and Bianconeri was quite eventful. For sure, it was fun. Both teams had ups and downs. Both teams could count on a goalie at the top of his game. And both teams had enough chances to win the game. Frankly speaking though, Lugano had few more chances… therefore, we think it’s safe to say that, finally, Serge Pelletier’s troops win made full sense.
The visitors got off to a good start of the game, they were very focused. And during the first PP opportunity of the night, in the 5th minute of play, they took the lead thanks to David McIntyre. Shortly after half-period though, during the second PP opportunity of the night this time in the Lions’ favor, Zürich tied things up with Axel Simic and so the two teams went to the first break tied in the score.
The game remained eventful also during the central period. Both Zürich and Lugano could take the lead. Shortly after the second break though, the Bianconeri were able to restore their lead. Always during a PP opportunity, but this time with Linus Klasen.
Oftentimes a goal scored during the latest stages of the central period turns out to be crucial. And so it was the case also this time. Serge Pelletier’s guys in fact, handled the situation perfectly during the last third. They never panicked even when under pressure and actually had few chances to extend their lead. And finally, they earned 3 deserved points.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Both goalies delivered a top notch performance. Our man of the match, however, is Alessio Bertaggia. He was pure energy. Perhaps he wasn’t very accurate in front of goal, but he performed very very well!
