HC AMBRÌ-PIOTTA vs EHC BIEL-BIENNE 5-4 (OT)
Ambrì-Piotta earned a 5-4 overtime win against Bienne at the end of a very eventful game played at the Valascia!
We think it’s safe to say that both teams delivered an excellent offensive performance and meanwhile a poor defensive performance. The Seeländer got off to a better start and deservedly took the lead thanks to the goal scored by Damien Riat after 9 minutes and 50 seconds of play. Then, however, Ambrì-Piotta improved as the game went on and stood up – actually played even slightly better – to the visitors.
The hosts’ efforts paid off during the first half of the central period, during which Brian Flynn, Elias Bianchi and Isacco Dotti (first NL goal) turned the score around! It could have been a huge blow for Bienne. Antti Törmänen’s troops instead reacted very well and scored their second goal of the night already before the second break again with Damien Riat.
The score at the second break was 3-2 and everything could happen at that point. During the early stages of the third period then, Toni Rajala scored the tying goal for the Seeländer and at that point the momentum seemed to be in the visitors’ favor. But it was time for Luca Cereda’s guys to show some real character, that allowed them to restore almost immediately their lead with Fabio Hofer. The latter’s goal, set the Valascia “on fire”!
It was a short “fire” though. Because once again almost immediately Bienne tied things up, this time with Peter Schneider. And there were still over 14 minutes left to play… there were no more goals until the overtime period, even though the game was exciting. And finally, 2 minutes and 2 seconds into the overtime period, the impressive determination showed by Brian Flynn earned the win for Ambrì-Piotta!
THE GUY ON FIRE
Noele Trisconi is the perfect image of the character and the determination of Ambrì-Piotta!
