Genève Servette and Lugano face each other for the third time this season and for the second time at Les Vernets. So far, there was no deal to make for the Bianconeri who lost both at home and on the road against the Eagles.
Let’s see the two teams’ form.
GENÈVE SERVETTE HC
The last game
Genève Servette are coming off the 3-2 road defeat suffered against Bern that put their 7-games winning run to an end. The Eagles are in great shape though, and also the last performance delivered at the PostFinance arena was good, at least during the second and third period of play. Patrick Emond troops’ team spirit is impessive, and it allowed them – among other things – to win also the last 5 games played at home. We mean, we’re talking about the most in-form team of the National League. A team that tonight, however, will have to do without Daniel Winnik.
Lugano are coming off the 2-1 home win earned against Davos thanks to some real character that followed the road defeat suffered always against Davos the previous night. Serge Pelletier’s troops won 3 of their last 4 games and are very much alive. In order to make the playoffs though, they have to improve – among other things – the away record. The Bianconeri in fact, won only 1 of their last 5 road games and ony 2 of the last 11.
Lugano’s last win in Genève dates back to November 30th, 2017. On that occasion, the Bianconeri earned a 4-0 road win thanks to the goals scored by Giovanni Morini (2), Luca Fazzini and Dario Bürgler. Daniel Manzato for his part earned the shutout.
