EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SCL TIGERS 2-5
Langnau gave Bienne an “efficiency in front of goal” lesson and earned a 5-2 road win at the Tissot Arena!
It wasn’t a great game. This was to be expected considering that both teams, regardless of their performances, are coming off several negative results and darn needed points. The first period was quite boring and scoring chances were rare. Nevertheless, Bienne took the lead thanks to Mike Künzle and Langnau tied things up with Toms Anderson.
After the first break then, the Seeländers increased their level of play and put the visitors under huge pressure. The Tigers, however, were able to go ahead in the score thanks to Julian Schmutz and could count on Ivars Punnenovs who was on fire. The latter, conceded only a power-play goal shortly after the half-an-hour mark, when Jason Fuchs put the puck in the net for Bienne.
Also during the third period Antti Törmänen’s troops had enough chances to win the game… but Langnau, as we said, gave the hosts an “efficiency in front of goal” lesson and in the last 9 minutes of the game scored three goals with Julian Schmutz, Pascal Berger and Chris DiDomenico – the latter, empty netter – and therefore set the 5-2 final score!
THE GUY ON FIRE
With all due respect, it’s likely that if Ivars Punnenovs was a player of Bienne… Bienne would win this game.
