HC Ambrì-Piotta vs EV Zug 3-2 (OT)
First of all, let us say that in our opinion this was a fantastic hockey game. A lot happened… emotions, mistakes, controversial calls from the refs, tough play, nice plays, two teams who delivered a very good performance, and so on.
Out of all this, Ambrì-Piotta deservedly came out as winners. 3-2 the final score after overtime.
The Leventinesi got off to a good start and took the lead thanks to Robert Sabolic who scored after 4 minutes and 12 seconds of play. Then the first period – just like to whole game to sum up – was characterised by many penalties. And Ambrì-Piotta can blame themselves becasuse weren’t able to be effective during power-play opportunities… otherwise, it’s likely that they could win this one already before the 60th minute of play.
Moreover, let’s face it. You can’t give Zug gifts. The Bulls in fact, also today proved to have an impressive potential. This could be seen also during the central period… a period that had started well for Luca Cereda’s troops, who had almost immediately extended their lead with Matt D’Agostini. As the game went on then, the Bulls had several good scoring chances, including the one that led to Yannick Zehnder goal shortly after the half-an-hour mark.
The third period was emotional as well. The only goal, however, came at about 10 minutes to the end. When Raphael Diaz scored during a power-play opportunity the tying goal for the visitors.
That could have been a huge blow for the hosts. The latter instead, proved to have some real character… they fought hard and earned the extra point thanks to Dominic Zwerger’s goal scored 82 seconds into the overtime period!
THE GUY ON FIRE
Basically all the players were very committed. Ambrì-Piotta and Zug gifted the fans with a very nice hockey game. We reward all of them, thanks!
