HC Fribourg Gottéron vs HC Davos 3-1
Fribourg Gottéron earned a 3-1 home win against Davos and therefore immediately got back to winning way after the defeat suffered – with the same final score – against Lugano.
In our opinion, the performance delivered by Christian Dubé’s troops was impressive. We think it’s safe to say that the Dragons literally outplayed the Ibexes during the first part of the game. What was impressive the most, however, is that they did it without giving the impression of pushing to the maximum.
Gottéron got off to a good start and took the lead thanks to Ryan Gunderson after 4 minutes and 1 second of play. But then, most and above all, they basically prevented the hosts from playing after that Felicien Du Bois almost immmediately scored the tying goal. The hosts in fact, were rock solid in defense and even created themselves several glorious scoring chances… until when, exactly at the half-an-hour mark, their hard work paid off as Daniel Brodin restored their lead.
During the early stages of the third period then, at a key moment, Nathan Marchon put Gottéron 3-1 ahead during a power-play opportunity and set the final score. Right, because after the first goal of the season scored by Marchon, the Ibexes reacted but the Dragons – including Reto Berra – were rock solid and, frankly speaking, for Davos there was no deal to make.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Ryan Gunderson is impressive both in the offensive and defensive zone. In Sweden he’d earned the nickname “Mr. Perfect”… there must be a reason for that.
