Genève Servette HC vs EHC Biel-Bienne 3-2
Genève Servette earned a 3-2 home win against Bienne and proved for the umpteenth time this season that it would be better for them if games start at 20:30… we talkes about that in one of our mid-week analysis.
The game between Eagles and Seeländers can be divided in three parts, it can be divided in the three periods of play.
Antti Törmänen’s troops got off to a great start and outplayed the hosts during the first period. They created countless scoring chances but the only player who was capable to put the puck in the net was Yannick Rathgeb who scored a fantastic goal.
After the first break, however, starting from approximately 20:30… Patrick Emond’s guys drastically increased their level of play and it was their turn to outplay the visitors. Their efforts paid off almost immediately, as Jonathan Mercier and Deniss Smirnovs turned the score around already before the half-an-hour mark.
At that point, the momentum was clearly on the hosts side. Who, during the last third, firstly extended their lead to 2-goals with Tommy Wingels… and then handled the situation quite well until the end, also and above all in the last 6 minutes of play after that Janis-Jérôme Moser made it a brand new game for the visitors. Moser’s goal though, in the end served only to set the 3-2 final score.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Obviously his great performances of earlier this season weren’t an accident… Deniss Smirnovs is such a fantastic talent!
