HC FRIBOURG GOTTERON vs HC LUGANO 1-3
The game between Fribourg Gottéron and Lugano wasn’t very spectacular. The Dragons made way too many unforced mistakes and weren’t at the top of their game which was a surprise considering their good moment of form. The Bianconeri for their part surely didn’t gift the fans with “champagne hockey” but it’s understandable considering that currently their morale is very low.
Yet, Sami Kapanen’s guys deserve a big round of applause right becasue, contrary to the recent past, they put their heart and soul into the game and were very determined. That was clear right from the start.
However, as we said, in our opinion the game was a low-level one and at times even boring. Overall, Fribourg Gottéron probably deserved something more… but Lugano, who could count on Sandro Zurkirchen “on fire”, never gave up. And were even able, in the second part of the second period, to take a 2-goals lead thanks to Jani Lajunen and Alessandro Chiesa!
The third period was more lively then, also because Gottéron finally increased their level of play and even scored with Ryan Gunderson their first goal of the night. When the hosts tying goal was in the air, however… Lugano fought hard, they defended themselves qutie well and finally even scored with Taylor Chorney the empty-netter that set the 3-1 final score.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Sandro Zurkirchen delivered yet another solid performance. We don’t think it’s right to say that he “stole” the game for Lugano… but certainly he played a key role.
