GENÈVE SERVETTE HC vs SC BERN 1-2
Bern earned a 2-1 road win against Genêve Servette at the end of a hard-fought and quite eventful game also because the refs performance wasn’t brillant and that fact heated things up.
For once, anyway, everything went well for the Bears. Kari Jalonen’s troops surely didn’t deliver a spectacular performance, but it was difficult to expect otherwise at this particular moment.
In fact, we think it’s safe to say that Genève Servette – at least at times – were the better side on ice. But Bern were able to score the right goals at the right time and that made the difference. Just like 2 minutes and 9 seconds into the central period… when André Heim scored the first goal of the night. And just like shortly before the second break, when Calle Andersson restored the Bears lead and his goal turned out to be the game winning goal.
Genève Servette in fact, weren’t able to turn their determination and efforts into goals. If not when they scored the tying goal with Deniss Smirnovs during a power-play opportunity shortly after that Bern had taken the lead with Heim.
So, overall we think that the Eagles delivered a decent performance. But this time, for once, Bern were rewarded with the fact that episodes turned in their favour.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Tomi Karhunen looked bad on the occasion of Deniss Smirnovs goal… for the rest, however, he delivered a very good and solid performance. In fact, he played a key role!
