EV ZUGO vs EHC BIENNE 3-4 (OT)
Zug and Bienne gifted the hockey fans with a quite eventful and nice hockey night that came to an end after 64 minutes and 20 seconds of play when the Seeländers scored the game winning goal!
The first 9 minutes and 16 seconds of play were almost surreal… Zug went ahead with Raphael Diaz and Bienne scored the tying goal with Yannick Rathgeb. And again, the hosts restored their lead thanks to Livio Langenegger – first NL goal! – but the visitors were able to turn the score around with Mike Künzle and Toni Rajala!
Whew, in our opinion the real game started right after Toni Rajala’s goal.
From that moment on in fact, Antti Törmänen’s troops were very solid, disciplined and also capable of creating good scoring chances. The Bulls for their part fought hard, but were way too undisciplined. Nevertheless, they were able to score shorthanded the tying goal with Dario Simion shortly after the half-an-hour mark also because of a huge defensive mistake of the visiting side!
Overall, we think it’s safe to say that the game was balanced, yet in out opinion Bienne were slightly better. For that, they were rewarded 4 minutes and 20 seconds into the overtime period, when Luca Cunti earned them the win!
THE GUY ON FIRE
If we exclude the first minutes of play, Jonas Hiller delivered as usual a top notch performance. Moreover, he made a big save during the overtime period shortly before the game winning goal scored by Luca Cunti!
