HC FRIBOURG GOTTÉRON vs SC BERN 5-1
Fribourg Gottéron gifted their fans with a magic night as they earned a clear 5-1 home win against Bern!
Before going any further, however, we should point that the Bears are the living – or dormant, up to you… – proof that when things go wrong it’s likely that are getting even worse. Last night, Kari Jalonen’s troops had the glorious chance to play 2 minutes with a man advantage almost immediately and they didn’t take the chance. Shortly after that, Gottéron took the lead at their first attempt thanks to the shot taken from an impossible position by Killian Mottet and from that moment the game started for real!
The Dragons delivered a very good performance and we think it’s safe to say that during the first period, or at least during the last 15 minutes and 41 seconds of it, they outplayed Bern. Therefore, it was not an accident that Sandro Schmid extended their lead in the 11th minute of play.
Then, after the first break, Bern tried hard to make it a brand new game and succeded, as Mark Arcobello scored their first goal of the night. But once again, however, there is just no denying that when things go wrong they just go wrong, point. Shortly after that in fact, the Bears made a terrible mistake that allowed Andrey Bykov – perfectly set up by Julien Sprunger – to restore the hosts’ 2-goals lead… and the score didn’t change until the second break.
During the final third then, the visitors’ attempts to make it a brand new game were useless. Christian Dubé’s guys in fact, handled the situation very well and during the last 10 minutes of play set the 5-1 final score thanks to the goals of Samuel Walser and Victor Stalberg (empty-netter)!
THE GUY ON FIRE
Raplh Stalder was paired up with Ryan Gunderson and delivered an outstanding defensive performance. We mean, he looked like Philippe Furrer!
