GENÈVE SERVETTE HC vs SC RAPPERSWIL-JONA LAKERS 6-2
Genève Servette earned a well-deserved 6-2 win against Rapperswil at the end of a game that at times was even quite boring.
Anyway, the Eagles, even though were not at the top of their game, proved to be overall the better side and more self-confident. Surely the fact that they were able to take a 2-goals lead thanks to the goals scored by Michael Völlmin and Noah Rod in a matter of 9 minutes and 52 seconds of play helped a lot.
And right Noah Rod’s goal – scored shorthanded – was the perfect image of Rappi’s performance. The visitors looked out of shape and only their first line was able to create some decent scoring chances.
Things didn’t change also during the second period, when it took only 37 seconds to Kevin Clark to make it a brand new game for Rapperswil. Despite Clark’s goal in fact, Genève Servette always had the situation under control and, always during the second third, their efforts paid off as Eric Fehr and Tommy Wingels (PP goal) put them 4-1 ahead.
At that point the game was over. It’s true that Rapperswil got us used to amazing comebacks this season… but last night it wasn’t their night. And it doesn’t really matter that Kevin Clark scored a second goal during the early stages of the third period of play. Because Genève Servette continued to handle the situation pretty well and during the last 2 minutes of play scored two empty-netters – both scored by Noah Rod – that set the 6-2 final score.
To note Daniel Vukovic’s come back at les Vernets. The images speak for themselves: so many people – Daniel included probably – shed a tear.
