HC DAVOS vs GENÈVE SERVETTE HC
Genève Servette’s team spirit and great performance was required in order to put Davos’ 7-games winning run to an end!
The Eagles in fact, were able to earn a 3-2 road win at the Vaillant Arena. And that was a very well deserved win in every way. Patrick Emond’s troops in fact, delivered a very good performance, perhaps the best one of the season in terms of consistency over the arc of the 60 minutes of play. They got off to a brillant start and took a 2-goals lead thanks to Jonathan Mercier and Daniel Winnik in a matter of 9 minutes and 45 seconds of play.
Then, they even had several chances to extend their lead especially during the central period. But there were no more goals until the second break… and so Davos were still in the game.
Mind you, the Ibexes didn’t underperform in our opinion. However, Genève Servette were by far the better side during the first two periods of play. It’s as simple as that. Only 62 seconds into the final third, however, Fabrice Herzog scored the first goal of the night for Davos and made it a brand new game… that goal was obviously a confidence booster for the hosts, who increased their level of play.
The last 20 minutes were quite eventful and intense. But the Eagles deserved the win, and sealed it at 4 minutes to the end when Tommy Wingels restored their 2-goals lead.
Davos obiously tried hard until the end, but they could score their second goal of the night with Aaron Palushaj only at 11 seconds to the end. Too late.
THE GUY ON FIRE
He scored the third goal of the night for Genève Servette that turned out to be the crucial one!
