SCL TIGERS vs SC BERN 3-1

15.11.2019

Langnau earned a very well deserved 3-1 win against Bern thanks to the emotions!

Let’s clarify. We mean, we don’t think that the Bears totally underperformed. Moreover, when you’re going through a rough patch, it’s likely that things go from bad to worse and even “Lady Luck” is not helping you.

However, it seemed like Langnau wanted this win more, it’s as simple as that. The Tigers were solid like usual in recent times, moreover they brought in more emotions in the game. Let us not forget also that they made less mistakes and were more disciplined. Even if only because of these reasons, they deserved the win.

Heinz Ehlers’ troops got off to a great start as it took them only 2 minutes and 49 seconds to score the first goal of the night with Ben Maxwell. This goal was a confidence booster for them, and allowed them to deliver an overal convincing performance. They had several good chances to extend their lead during the first two periods of play… but the score didn’t change until the second break.

Mind you, also Bern had their chances, some of them very good ones. The impression was, however, that they never really tried to get out of their “emotionless” system of play. Nevertheless, they scored the tying goal during a power-play situation with Ramon Untersander at 9 minutes to the end!

That could have been the “turning point” of the game and perhaps also of the season for Kari Jalonen’s troops. Shortly after that goal, however, Calle Andersson was assessed a 2 minutes penalty… and the Tigers took advantage of that by restoring their lead with Robbie Earl!

At that point the Ilfishalle was “on fire”, and at 30 seconds to the end Harri Pesonen set the 3-1 final score with an empty-netter. What a magic night for Langnau!
