ZSC LIONS vs HC LUGANO 7-2
It was a one-sided affair starting from the central period… and so the ZSC Lions earned a 7-1 win against Lugano!
Initially, the Bianconeri looked good, but it took only one chance for the hosts – after 4 minutes and 39 seconds of play – to take the lead with Simon Bodenmann. The first period was quite balanced after that, in fact we even dare to say that Lugano were more organized in the offensive zone. The Lions, however, aren’t the league leaders – with the best scoring record of the league – by accident… and so, they extended their lead with Chris Baltisberger in the 11th minute of play.
Sami Kapanen’s troops then made it a brand new game with Dominic Lammer and after that they had the glorious chance to play for one minute and a half 5 vs 3… but the score didn’t change until the first break.
During the early stages of the second period then, everything changed. It took only 97 seconds to Marcus Krüger to restore the Lions 2-goals lead, and from that moment on the Lions – even without being at the top of their game – literally outplayed Lugano for the remaining 38 minutes and 27 seconds of play.
This allowed them to go 5-1 ahead in the score already before the second break thanks to Garrett Roe and Simon Bodenmann. And it also allowed them to go 7-1 ahead by the 48th minute of play with Chris Baltisberger and Simon Bodenmann.
Game over. The ZSC Lions were just stronger and gifted their fans with yet another magic night. It’s as simple as that. Lugano for their part darn struggled to react after the third goal conceded, and only a 4 minutes to the end were able to score another goal with Luca Fazzini who set the 7-2 final score.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Simon Bodenmann was unstobbable in the offensive zone and he scored a fantastic hat-trick!
