EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs HC AMBRÌ-PIOTTA
SEASON HEAD TO HEAD
Bienne are coming off the 4-3 overtime home win earned against the ZSC Lions that followed the 3-2 shootout defeat suffered in Langnau. The latter two games well represent the current form of the Seeländers… ups and downs, both in terms of results and performances. The “ups”, anyway, are oftentimes at the Tissot Arena, where they won 6 of their last 7 games and where they always earned at least 1 point this season. We mean, Antti Törmänen’s guys aren’t at the top of their game yet, but they continue to prove to be more and more a “big club” in the National League!
Ambrì-Piotta are coming off the 4-3 shootout win earned against Lugano on the road that was a godsend for the morale… it was a godsend because it put their 3-games losing streak to an end but also, if not most and above all, because Luca Cereda’s troops were finally rewarded for all their efforts. The Leventinesi are almost always a tough nut to crack but need to improve when it comes to convert their scoring chances, mostly away from home. Despite the last win in the derby away from home in fact, Ambrì-Piotta won only 2 of their 8 games played on the road this season, and never earned 3 points.
Ambrì-Piotta’s last win in Bienne dates back to December 1st, 2015… on that occasion, the troops coached by Hans Kossmann earned a 6-3 win thanks to the goals scored by Alexandre Giroux, Adam Hall, Paolo Duca (!), Oliver Kamber, Daniele Grassi and Adrien Lauper. The Seeländers’ scorers were Matthias Rossi, Daniel Steiner and Mathieu Tschantré.
