SC BERN vs GENÈVE SERVETTE HC 5-4 (OT)
As it is often the case, the game between Bern and Genève Servette was eventful, emotional and required the overtime period in order to establish the winner. In this case, the Bears prevailed at the end of a literally crazy game!
We think it’s safe to say that Genève Servette were much better during the first two periods of play, and that, in fact, they should have sealed the three points before the second break. But we think it’s also safe to say that Bern put an out of the ordinary character, that they played an impressive third period and that finally earned a win that – for the way it came – it’s literally a godsend for the morale!
It’s quite easy to describe what happened at the PostFinance Arena last night. Genève Servette went four times ahead in the score thanks to Floran Douay, Tommy Wingels, Noah Rod and Eric Fehr. To note, that the latter’s goal came at 94 seconds to the end of the last third and put the Eagles 4-3 ahead.
Yet… Bern were always able to equalize. In the order, the goals were scored by Mark Arcobello (2) and Tristan Scherwey. And again, at 44 seconds to the end, by Calle Andersson.
Calle Andersson’s goal was a huge confidence booster for the Bears… who, 87 seconds into the overtime period, earned the win thanks to Ramon Untersander’s power-play goal! What a character, the guys of Kari Jalonen… but what a frustration for the guys of Patrick Emond, who certainly made their fans proud but weren’t able to seal the deal.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Mark Arcobello is back… yep, after a short “break”, Mark Arcobello is back!
