SC RAPPERSWIL-JONA LAKERS vs EHC BIEL-BIENNE 5-3
Rapperswil earned an amazing 5-3 comeback home win against Bienne! Was it an accident? Not really… Rappi also against Bern had earned a similar win, after all. The fact that they did it again, proved that this team has an out of the ordinary character!
And to say, the Lakers got off to a very poor start of the game. Bienne, even though their performance wasn’t top notch, literally outplayed the hosts during the first period of play… and not for nothing, they took a 2-goals lead in a matter of 5 minutes and 12 seconds thanks to Toni Rajala and Michael Hügli.
During the early stages of the central period then, Marc-Antoine Pouliot gave the Seeländers a 3-goals lead. And at that point, willy-nilly, the game seemed over. Then, however, even though it looked like Bienne were handling the situation quite well, Rapperswil increased their level of play as the game went on… and during the latest stages of the second third Kevin Clark scored the first goal of the night for the hosts.
Oftentimes, a goal scored during the latest stages of the central period turns out to be a turning point of a game. And so it was also this time. Because Rappi – who proved to have a big heart – came back on fire after the second break!
And so during the final third… firstly Andrew Rowe made it a brand new game in the 51st minute of play… then Dominik Egli scored the tying goal in the 54th minute of play… after that, Kevin Clark (goal of the season??!) turned the score around during a power-play situation… and finally, Daniel Vukovic scored the empty-netter that set the 5-3 final score!
What a night for Rappi! And what a nightmare for the Seeländers…
THE GUY ON FIRE
Our heartfelt wishes to Jeff Tomlinson who is about to go into kidney surgery! Symbolically, this win it’s his win. The team showed the courage of his coach!
