HC AMBRÌ-PIOTTA vs BANSKA BYSTRICA 4-3

Champions Hockey League – 16.10.2019

We’re huge fans of the Champions Hockey League, we seriously think that it’s a tournament to be enhanced. When, however, a poor organization made it the way that Ambrì-Piotta and Banska Bystrica had to play a completely useless game only because the other last game of the group stage was played the night before… well, we just feel like crying.

Having said that, we watched this last game of the Group G between Leventinesi and Slovaks with great interest. At times in fact, such games that can be defined almost “friendlies”, turn our to be quite exciting. Also because the coaches often take the opportunity to give space to those players who, for one reason or another, usually can’t enjoy so much time on ice.

Back to the game of last night, we saw a really good Ambrì-Piotta during the first period oof play! We think it’s safe to say that Luca Cereda’s guys outplayed their opponents during the first third. Yet, even though they had many scoring chances, they were able to score only one goal with Nick Plastino after 3 minutes and 59 seconds of play.

After the first break, however, all changed. Banska Bystrica came back after the break much more aggressive – at times even too much… – and put the hosts under huge pressure. It was against the trend of the game though, that Ambrì-Piotta doubled their lead with Matt D’Agostini!

The Slovaks hard work paid off during the second part of the central period and during the early stages of the third one… that because Marek Biro, Lukas Lunter and Andrej Stastny turned the score around!

At that point, Ambrì-Piotta’s real character came out… Misha Moor heated things up as he took off his gloves and that turned out to be the key moment of the game. In fact, the hosted looked reborn after that episode, and that allowed them to score with Robert Sabolic and Giacomo Dal Pian during the last 8 minutes of play and win the game!
