SC RAPPERSWIL-JONA LAKERS vs SC BERN 5-4 (OT)
Rapperswil earned an impressive 5-4 overtime comeback win against Bern and therefore won their first game against the Bears after 2’544 days!
And to say that it appeared to be a bad day for Jeff Tomlinson’s guys. Kari Jalonen’s troops in fact, proved to be merciless snipers during the first period of play… and in a matter of 13 minutes and 38 seconds took a 3-goals lead thanks to Tristan Scherwey and Simon Moser (2). We mean, the game seemed already over… even more so because during the central period, after that Jan Mosimann had gave some hope to the hosts, Ramon Unterstander restored the Bears’ 3-goals lead already before the half-an-hour mark.
At that point though, Rappi proved to have an impressive character to say the least. And, always during the central period, scored their second goal of the night with Andrew Rowe, a shorthanded one.
People thought, however, that it was only a flash in the pan. On the one hand because Bern have always been rock solid in recent years. On the other hand, moreover, because – despite everything – Rappi are always Rappi, after all.
And instead, the 2019-20 version of Rappi proved once again to be an extremely tough nut to crack! And so, Jeff Tomlinson’s boys came back “on fire” after the second break and were able to make it a brand new game thanks to Sandro Forrer and Jorden Gähler, with the latter who scored the tying goal at 8 minutes to the end.
At that moment, the momentum was totally on the hosts’ favour… that led, 3 minutes and 15 seconds into the overtime period, to the game winning goal scored by Corsin Casutt!
THE GUY ON FIRE
Andrew Rowe scored shorthanded the most “important” goal of the night! Most and above all, however, he delivered an excellent performance. As a real leader!
