Both Zug and Plzen were already sure to make it through the group stage… nevertheless over 4’500 fans attended tha game at the Bossard Arena, and they were rewarded with the 5-2 win of the Bulls!
Overall, it was a deserved victory. If we look at the shots in fact, we see that Dan Tangnes’ troops shot 36 times on goal while the Czech only 18.
The first part of the game, however, was complicated for the Swiss Centrals. During the first period in fact, Plzen took the lead thanks to Petr Straka. And shortly before the half-an-hour mark, Peter Ceresnak extended to 2-goals the Czechs lead.
16 seconds after the second goal of the visitors though, Erik Thorell scored the first goal for Zug and from that moment on the hosts became unstoppable… in the image of the fact that thanks to Dario Simion and Lino Martschini (2 goals) they went to the second break 4-2 ahead in the score.
To note finally a very good news that came during the third period of play… that is, Livio Langenegger’s goal that set the 5-2 final score. The young gun coming from the EVZ Academy already made a great impression during his NL debut, and scored his first Champions Hockey League goal!
