HC Lugano vs SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 6-3 – Game summary, statistics and video highlights!

Lugano won 6-3 against Rapperswil and therefore earned a 4th win in their last 5 games. These are excellent results that allow them to be currently 3rd placed only 3 points behind Bienne and with a game in hand.

The game against Rappi wasn’t an easy one though. Lugano, as usual this season, got off to a great start and took the lead with Romain Loeffel after only 2 minutes and 30 seconds of play… and then extended their lead shortly before half-period with Alessio Bertaggia. Without forgetting that the Bianconeri even had several good chances to extend their lead.

Don’t be totally fooled by what we just wrote though, because Rappi didn’t travel all the way to Ticino demotivated. Actually, the visitors also had their chances during the first period, including one when Casey Wellmann hit the post.

We mean, it wasn’t an ugly Rappi. It was a Rappi very much alive, who increased their level of play during the second third and, also beacuse Lugano looked less brillant compared to the first period, made it a brand new game shortly after the half-an-hour mark when Andrew Rowe and Daniel Vukovic scored two goals.

Minutes after that then, came the one that in our opinion was the key moment of the game. Daniel Vukovic left the ice bleeding and shortly after that Lugano scored with Luca Fazzini during a power-play situation!

That was a decisive goal that came when the Lakers couldn’t count on their solid defenseman nr. 55. And that was a goal that boosted Lugano’s confidence. Sami Kapanen’s guys in fact, came back on fire after the second break and immediately restored their 2-goals lead with Sandro Zannger.

The game looked over at that point. Rapperswil were able to score another goal with Jan Mosimann… but during the last 8 minutes of play, Luca Fazzini and Dominic Lammer set the 6-3 final score.

Luca Fazzini

Luca Fazzini scored 2 goals another time… but most and above all, he’s a player completely reborn. A player very self-confident at the moment who fights hard during each shift!
