HC FRIBOURG GOTTÉRON vs SC BERN 1-3
Bern earned a 3-1 win against Fribourg Gottéron on the road and therefore put their 5-games losing streak to an end!
Dragons and Bears gifted the fans with a quite eventful game. We think it’s safe to say that none of the two teams delivered an excellent performance, but that was predictable considering how important were the points at stake and the form… And we think it’s also safe to say that, at least for parts of the game, Gottéron looked more committed. But finally, we think that it’s also safe to say that Bern proved much better when it came to convert scoring chances and when it came to make the difference at the key moments of the game.
Bern who, among other things, could count on an early confidence booster represented by Thomas Ruefenacht’s goal scored after only 4 minutes and 4 seconds of play. The hosts then tried their hardest and were able to score the tying goal with Andrey Bykov already during the first period… but then, even though they had good scoring chances, weren’t able to turn the score around. That ensured the Bears to build self-confidence and, as the game went on, the self-confidence led to André Heim’s power-play goal that restored the visitors lead in the last few minutes of the central period… that is, oftentime a key moment to score a goal.
There is no denying, in fact, that the Dragons could tie things up during the third period. But there is also no denying that Bern were able to handle the situation pretty well also thanks to Niklas Schlegel… and finally, even set the 3-1 final score during the latest stages with Mark Arcobello who scored an empty-netter.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Fribourg Gottéron were so darn inaccurate in front of goal… but one of the reasons for that was also Niklas Schlegel’s performance that was top notch!
