EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SCL TIGERS 3-2 (SO)
Bienne earned a 3-2 shootout win against Langnau and therefore won their fourth game out of five this season. That’s enough to stay at the top of the National League table!
It wasn’t certainly a walk in the park for Antti Törmänen’s troops though… in fact, quite the contrary. Langnau proved to be a tough nut to crack for the umpteenth time and once again put an above average organized hockey on display. It was therefore not an accident that, in a matter of 24 minutes and 3 seconds of play, they took a 2-goals lead thanks to Benjamin Neukom and Ben Maxwell.
We mean, it looked like a bad night for the Seeländers, who were coming off the epic battle of the previous night in Bern.
Bienne, however, have infinite resources. And shortly after going two-goals down, were able to make it a brand new game with Marc-Anoine Pouliot… and from hatt moment on, the evening changed. Langnau got a little bit nervous while the hosts finally increased their level of play and were rewarded for that at 12 minutes to the end of the third period, thanks to Yannick Rathgeb’s hammer that was worth the tying goal.
Considering that all in all was quite balanced then, the shooout series was the logical consequence… and during the shootout series only Toni Rajala and Peter Schneider (who also had a goal disallowed previously) were able to put the puck in the net and that earned the Seeländers the extra point!
THE GUY ON FIRE
Good news for Bienne… a comeback win and a very good performance delivered by Jonas Hiller’s back up goalie. Eliane Paupe in fact, was at the top of his game both during the 60 minutes of play and during the shootout series!
