HC LUGANO vs HC DAVOS 2-3
Davos earned a well-deserved 3-2 comeback win on the road against Lugano and therefore earned their first points of the season after the first promising, but not winning, performance delivered on Saturday night in Zürich.
Both teams had their chances at the Cornèr Arena during the first period of play… even though, overall, it’s safe to say that Davos were the better side in terms of play. The two teams, however, went to the first break level on the score… and the score remained level until shortly after the half-an-hour mark, when Alessandro Chiesa gave the lead to Lugano after 10 minutes of central period that were quite balanced.
At that point, we expected the Bianconeri to be more confident, and instead Davos increased their level of play and this allowed them – during the last 5 minutes of central period – to turn the score around thanks to Marc Wieser who scored twice!
As it is often the case, it’s crucial to score goals shortly before the second break. And it was the case also this time, since Lugano – who actually looked tired… – weren’t able to react during the third period. And in fact, the Ibexes played much better and even extended their lead thanks to Mattias Tedenby in the 46th minute of play.
Only during the last stages of the game the Bianconeri were able to put the visitors under pressure. But it was too late, because the Bianconeri’s reaction only led to Luca Fazzini’s goal that set the 2-3 final score.
THE GUY ON FIRE
Mattias Tedenby is extremely fast and his puck control if just fantastic. He performed very well and even scored the third goal for Davos, that turned out to be the game winning one.
