EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SC RAPPERSWIL-JONA LAKERS 0-1
Rapperswil earned a 1-0 overtime win against Bienne at the end of a game that, contrary to what the final score might suggest, was quite eventful and at times even fun.
We think it’s say to say that none of the two teams underperformed and that the two goalies are the main reason why the fans were gifted with only one goal in over 60 minutes of play.
Bienne played quite well. They even had many scoring chances… but on the one hand Melvin Nyffeler – at his second consecutive shutout – was like a wall between the pipes, and on the other hand the absences of players such as Brunner, Fuchs, Riat and Hügli turned out to be a real problem when it came to put the puck in the net. It’s unthinkable that Toni “on fire” Rajala can bail the team out all the time, after all.
Rapperswil for their part proved once again, for the third consecutive time, an impressive tough nut to crack. The Lakers were again rock solid in defense, they could count on a Melvin Nyffeler at the top of his game… and have imports who can make the difference. Just like Roman Cervenka, who scored the fantastic game winning goal 2 minutes and 23 seconds into the overtime period!
THE GUY ON FIRE
It’s likely that Roman Cervenka thought that enough was enough after 62 minutes and 23 seconds of play… as he went to score a fantastic first, and only, goal of the night!
