SC BERN vs EV ZUG – PostFinance Arena – 20:00
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch… once again Bern proved to have enormous resources! Firstly they lost game-1 at home but then went to win on the road in Zug game-2 thanks to an excellent performance especially when the two teams were playing even strengths. Kari Jalonen’s troops were able, once again, to bounce back when they looked like up against the wall. And tonight they will come back to play in front of their own fans at the PostFinance Arena that will be finally sold out!
Bern lost game-1 but then immediately won game-2 away from home. Moreover, in Zug the Bears won their 4th overtime – out of 6 – of the 2019 playoffs. These thing can happen only if you are in a prime physical condition… and you have some real character!
WHAT CAN IMPROVE
Playoffs’ home record
The Bears lost 5 of their 8 home games during the 2019 playoffs… there is no denying that they must improve their home record. Everything is strange though… we’re talking about Bern, after all. Namely, the team who had the best home record of the league during the Regular Season, when they lost only 7 of their 25 home games.
THE KEY PLAYER
Let us not beat around the bush… Mark Arcobello didn’t seem “on fire” during the first two games of the final. However, he’s that step-up kind of a guy who’s always in the right place at the right time. And he’s the one who can make the difference at the key moments. Allright, it’s is time now!
Zug lost their first home game of the 2019 playoffs on Saturday night… yet, if we exclude the overtime period – when it looked like Dan Tangnes’ guys forgot to come back after the third break – the Bulls delivered a good performance. We mean, it’s certainly no time to feel down. In fact, it’s time to return to attack!
When Zug have a power-play opportunity… it’s always about to get ugly for the opponents! The Bulls are proving relentless during power-play situations. They enter the offensive zone with ease, they move around the puck very well… and they score! This is a crucial aspect, especially during a playoffs’ final.
WHAT CAN IMPROVE
The new situation
This is not really something that can improve… but rather one unknown. So far in the 2019 playoffs, Zug have been outplaying both Lugano and Lausanne. Right now instead, they’re facing Bern who are selling their lives dearly. We mean, the Bulls are in a sort of “new situation”. We’re very curious to see how they will react tonight!
THE KEY PLAYER
Dennis Everberg tallied 1 goal in 5 games if we take the quarterfinal and the semifinal into consideration… in the final against Bern instead, he already scored 3 goals in 2 games! The Swedish forward is impressive during power-play situation and, thanks to his speed and his physical prowess, he’s a constant pain in the neck to Bern’s defense!
