EHC BIEL-BIENNE vs SC BERN – Tissot Arena – 20:00

Tonight Bienne can go down in history… and they can go down in history right in a game against their bitter rivals Bern. We mean, there is no denying that today is not a day just like any other in Bienne. The environment at the Tissot Arena will give fans goosebumps. The fans and the team will be one in order to try to take down the Bears!

WHAT DID WORK

The character

Bienne have proved to have some real character. They went 2-0 ahead in the series… they suffered Bern’s comeback… and then, when they looked doomed, they came back to life at the PostFinance Arena and are now one step away from the final! Moreover, Antti Törmänen’s troops proved very versatile and able to play very well.

WHAT CAN IMPROVE

Faceoffs

Faceoffs are potentially a pivotal play in ice hockey. Even more so when you play a game like the one of tonight when every detail matters. Well, in this regard, the Seeländers are not well staffes as they won only 41% of faceoffs against Bern in the series. Moreover, none of the players who regularly take faceoffs has a positive success rate.

THE PLAYER “ON FIRE”

Jonas Hiller

Jonas “the wall” Hiller was outstanding during game-5 in Bern and proved to be a goalie who can help a team to make it to the final. What a goalie…

And now Bern are up against the wall can’t afford any mistake. Of course, Jalonen’s troops still have every chance to make it to the final… but they must finally get out of their bear cave like they did during game-3 and game-4! The important thing for tonight will be to stay focused from start to finish. Moreover, it’s gonna be crucial not to forget the emotions in Bern…

WHAT DID WORK

Power-play

During game-5 Bern couldn’t score a single goal… therefore they failed to score also during power-play situations. Overall, however, the Bears have an impressive 35.3% power-play efficiency and this is great. We mean, Jalonen’s troops proved almost merciless during power-play situations and tonight this could be a key factor.

WHAT CAN IMPROVE

Emotions

During game-3 and game-4 Bern were disciplined but also brought emotions into the games… and this is something that made all the difference. During the other games of the series instead, the Bears looked way too stubborn and emotionless. And let us not forget, but this is nothing new, that it looks like there is no plan-b when it comes to the system of play.

THE PLAYER “ON FIRE”

Simon Moser

Simon Moser is one of the few players who brought in a lof of energy and emotions during all the 5 games of the series. He’s the Captain and an example to follow. Moreover, he even tallied 4 points (3 goals) in 5 games.
