SC Bern – EHC Biel-Bienne 6-2
Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.
Bern prevailed 6-2 against Bienne and therefore earned the first win in the series!
In our opinion, last night for the first time during the post-season, the Bears really switched to “playoff mode”! Kari Jalonen’s troops have been the best side on ice throughout the 60 minutes and deservedly won the game. It’s as simple as that.
Then again, no one can say that Bienne underperformed. Actually, during the early stages of the game, Bern put them under pressure but the Seeländers had the best chances to open the score… as it is often the case, however, you pay for your mistakes. And so the first goal of the night was scored by Jan Mursak for Bern after 6 minutes and 46 seconds!
From that moment on, the hosting side finally kick started their semifinal for real… they were solid in the defensive zone and aggressive in the offensive zone. This led to Andrew Ebbett’s power-play goal scored in the 13th minute of play… and to Ramon Untersander’s goal during the final stages of the central period.
During the early stages of the third period then, Bienne were firstly assessed a minor penalty during which they didn’t concede any goal… and then, scored their first goal of the night with Damien Brunner. At that moment, it was safe to say that the Seeländers made it a brand new game…
Bern, however, never panicked and handled the situation very well. They went 5-1 ahead with Gregory Sciaroni and Mark Arcobello and finally, after that Mathieu Tschantré scored a second meaningless goal for the Seeländers, they set the 6-2 final score thanks to Jan Mursak’s empty netter.
Jan Mursak (SC Bern)
Jan Mursak scored twice… including the crucial first goal of the night. Most and above all, however, he increased his level of play!
