Johan Morant is a precious player for Zug. Oftentimes he is wrongly described solely as an agitator… but that’s wrong. We mean, that’s not it. He’s even solid and can bring a lot of energy to the games. Then sure, he’s also an agitator at times… but a team needs players like him too. We’re talking about ice hockey, after all… right?!

Having said that, during game-3 of the playoffs semifinal against Lausanne, Johan Morant did something that he doesn’t do really often. That is, he put the puck in the net! In fact, let’s not beat around the bush… Johann Morant has got many skills, but surely he’s not a scoring machine.

Suffice it to say that Morant, before game-3 of this year’s semifinal against Lausanne, hadn’t scored a goal in 812 days… and more precisely, his previous last goal dated back to January 7th, 2017. And suffice it to say that to day, in almost 300 NLA appearances including playoffs, he scored only 6 goals in total. Including the last one against Lausanne. Finally, suffice it also to say that, the goal scored against Lausanne, was his first career playoffs goal!

We mean, not many goals… the two goals scored for Lugano were useless as the team lost the game. The three goals scored for Zug instead, helped the team to win.

To note, moreover, that Johann Morant scored 33.3% of his goals against Ambrì-Piotta who are therefore his favourite victim. And to note also that while playing for Zug he also scored against his former team Lugano.

To conclude, we think that Johann Morant really enjoyed his last goal scored on March 30th, 2019… not only did Zug won and delivered a performance that flirted with perfection, but Johann even scored the 6th goal of his career and his first ever playoffs goal!

Bravo, Johann!
