We will present you, from now until the end of the playoffs, in this semi-serious column, the quotes that in our opinion particularly suit the eight teams who are battling to become Swiss Champions!

This column will be published regularly…

SC Bern

“I think compassion is an important quality in people in general!” – Shannon Elizabeth

For the third time in five games overtimes were required in order to establish the winner between Bern and Genève Servette. This time, however, the game didn’t last almost 100 minutes… In fact Yannik Burren has proved compassionate towards the fans and scored the game winning goal “only” 7 minutes and 59 seconds into the overtime period. The fans, especially those who were working the next day, were grateful. Genève Servette not really…

Genève Servette HC

“Some may have more talent, but there is no excuse for anyone working harder than you!” – John Tavares

Obviously Bern on paper are stronger… the Regular Season final table doesn’t lie, after all. Yet, how John Tavares said, there is no excuse for anyone working harder than you. Genève Servette are working very hard and are turning out to be a real tough nut to crack for the Mutzen. We mean, the Eagles are like John Tavares!

Lausanne HC

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard!” – Kevin Durant

This is the same quote we used for Lausanne after game-1… and we use it again. During game-5, Lausanne didn’t work as hard as Langnau and were rightly punished for that. Hard work is the base during a playoff game… Lausanne already played with fire twice during this series. Will they react again?

SCL Tigers

“It is your response to winning and losing that makes you a winner or a loser!” – Harry Sheehy

Langnau were coming off 3 consecutive defeats and looked destined to a bad end in the lions’ den… and instead, Heinz Ehlers’ troops showed everybody that they’re winners! They responded very well to the defeats, they never gave up, they didn’t get fused, they kept of working hard and reaped their reward. They earned the right to play at least one more home game this season!

EHC Biel-Bienne

“You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it!” – Margaret Thatcher

What Margaret Thatcher said sorts well with Bienne… the Seeländers outplayed Ambrì-Piotta during game-1 but then had to fight 5 battles to win the series and qualify for the semifinals for the second consecutive season! It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t a walk in the park… in the end, however, Bienne deserved to win the series and proved a strong, self-confident and determined team. A winning team!

HC Ambrì-Piotta

“Not every victory shows up on the scoreboard!” – Unknown

Ambrì-Piotta lost game-5 in Bienne and are now on holiday. Yet, not every victory shows up on the scoreboard… Ambrì-Piotta lost this game but won their season. Their results and performances have been excellent. The fans staying to sing at the Tissot Arena was probably the best present that the players and club could have got. It looked like the fans didn’t want to stop dreaming… it looked like the fans wanted this season to last forever!
