EHC Biel-Bienne – HC Ambrì-Piotta 5-3
Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.
Bienne earned a 7th win out of 7 games against Ambrì-Piotta this season… and are now very close to make it to the semifinals for the second consecutive year!
The Leventinesi put their hearts and souls on display… they got off to an excellent start of the game and took the lead thanks to Marco Müller’s power-play scored after only 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Then, however, the Seeländers increased their level of play and always during the third period turned the score around with Damien Riat and Jason Fuchs.
During the early staeges of the central period then, the hosts even extended their lead to 2-goals with Julian Schmutz and the game looked over. Right, only looked over…
Because after Schmutz’s goal, the Leventinesi played a brillant second period and deservedly equalized with Dominic Zwerger during a power-play situation! At that point the momentum was on Luca Cereda’s troops favour… and this allowed them to come back after the second break with every intention to equalize. Mission accomplished, as Jannik Fischer put the puck in the net in the 45th minute of play!
At that moment though, Bienne’s experience came to light… also thanks to the help of Ambrì-Piotta who were assessed an unnecessary penalty in the offensive zone. The Seeländers, probably also mindful of last season’s semifinal series against Lugano, took advantage of the power-play opportunity to restore their lead with Jason Fuchs… and then even set the 5-3 final score thanks to Mike Künzle’s empty-netter!
Jason Fuchs (EHC Biel-Bienne)
Yep… Jason Fuchs is merciless against his former team!
