HC Lugano – SC Bern 4-2
Our game summary, the key player, video highlights and game statistics.
Lugano earned a 4-2 home win against Bern.
Considering that these two teams could have faced each other in the quarterfinals, and that they can still face each other in the semifinals, we were expecting that the players could send each other some clear messages… and instead, the only real “tiff” happened in the 49th minute of play, when Maxim Lapierre and Jan Mursak exchanged each other some “sign of love” that the refs excessively punished with a 10 minutes penalty.
What about the game instead? Lugano were more determined and deservedly won the game. It took only 9 seconds to Alessio Bertaggia to open the score and put the Bianconeri 1-0 ahead… and 1-0 was also the score at the first break.
As the game went on, Lugano were always better in the little things while Bern made too many mistakes. Like the one they made in the 25th minute of play that allowed Jani Lajunen to go one on one against Caminada and to score shorthanded a second goal for Lugano… at that point the Mutzen reacted, they slightly increased their level of play and shortened distances with Aurélien Marti who scored his first NLA career’s goal. The hosts, however, were unimpressed and always during the central period restored their 2-goals lead with Giovanni Morini.
During the third period Bern finally tried harder to make it a brand new game but Lugano handled the situation pretty well. Until 1 minute and a half to the end, when Bern pulled their goalie and scored with Simon Moser. Too late… even more so because shortly after that Raffaele Sannitz scored an empty-netter and set the 4-2 final score.
And now? Lugano will face Zug while Bern will face Genève Servette starting from Saturday!
Alessio Bertaggia (HC Lugano)
We were saying that Lugano were more determined. Alessio Bertaggia is the perfect image of what we meant.
