GAME DAY – March 4th, 2019

We thought that this last game day would have been crucial for the playoffs battle but instead only Genève Servette and ZSC Lions are still uncertain about the future. The other games, however, are interesting anyway…

Let’s get down to the details!

HC Ambrì-Piotta – SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers

19/01/19, 19:45 Rapperswil-Jona Lakers – HC Ambrì-Piotta 4 : 2  (3 : 0) (0 : 2) (1 : 0)
30/11/18, 19:45 Rapperswil-Jona Lakers – HC Ambrì-Piotta 2 : 5  (1 : 3) (1 : 1) (0 : 1)
19/10/18, 19:45 HC Ambrì-Piotta – Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 2 : 1  (0 : 0) (1 : 0) (1 : 1)

Ambrì-Piotta will make the playoffs but tonight’s game is important anyway. First of all for the morale. Moreover, because Luca Cereda’s troops can still improve their final position. To do so, they have to win against Rapperswil and hope that Lausanne will win in Langnau. The Lakers for their part aren’t under pressure but are able to win a couple of games now and then. Even though they can do it mostly at home. Away from home in fact, the Lakers won only 1 of their last 12 games.

HC Davos – EHC  Biel-Bienne

19/01/19, 19:45 EHC Biel-Bienne – HC Davos 4 : 2  (2 : 1) (1 : 1) (1 : 0)
17/11/18, 19:45 EHC Biel-Bienne – HC Davos 2 : 7  (2 : 1) (0 : 2) (0 : 4)
06/10/18, 19:45 HC Davos – EHC Biel-Bienne 3 : 7  (1 : 3) (0 : 0) (2 : 4)

Davos want to confirm their improvements both in terms of performances and results (4 wins in their last 5 games)… Bienne want to seal the third place and go back to winning ways after the defeat suffered in Genève that put to an end a 4-games winning run. We agree that this game doesn’t sound particularly interesting… it will be interesting, however, to know how these two teams are preparing themselves for the most important part of the season.

Genève Servette HC – ZSC Lions

12/02/19, 19:45 ZSC Lions – Genève-Servette HC 1 : 4  (0 : 3) (1 : 1) (0 : 0)
08/12/18, 19:45 ZSC Lions – Genève-Servette HC 0 : 2  (0 : 1) (0 : 1) (0 : 0)
28/09/18, 19:45 Genève-Servette HC – ZSC Lions 2 : 1  (1 : 0) (0 : 1) (1 : 0)

Genève Servette vs ZSC Lions is the most important game of the season. We talked about it at the following link…

Genève Servette HC – ZSC Lions… who will make the playoffs? Our game preview!

HC Lugano – SC Bern

19/01/19, 19:45 SC Bern – HC Lugano 3 : 0  (0 : 0) (1 : 0) (2 : 0)
30/10/18, 19:45 HC Lugano – SC Bern 4 : 2  (1 : 2) (3 : 0) (0 : 0)
25/09/18, 19:45 SC Bern – HC Lugano 4 : 0  (1 : 0) (1 : 0) (2 : 0)

When Lugano and Bern face each other, games are always interesting. Lugano want to go back to winning ways after the defeat suffered in Davos and remain at least at the 7th place on the table. Bern for their part must show what they’re made of and show that they’re ready for the playoffs. Let us not forget, moreover, that these two teams can potentially face each other starting from next saturday in the quarterfinals… therefore, it’s likely that they want to send clear signals to each other!

SCL Tigers – Lausanne HC

15/01/19, 19:45 Lausanne HC – SCL Tigers 4 : 0  (2 : 0) (2 : 0) (0 : 0)
01/12/18, 19:45 Lausanne HC – SCL Tigers 4 : 2  (1 : 0) (2 : 2) (1 : 0)
23/10/18, 19:45 SCL Tigers – Lausanne HC 4 : 3  (1 : 1) (1 : 1) (2 : 1)

Lausanne and Langnau could face each other starting from next saturday in the playoffs quarterfinals. Therefore, it’s likely that they want to send clear messages to each other! Moreover, considering that when Tigers and Lions Vaudois faced each other this season the home advantage was crucial… we’re pretty sure that they want to win this one and so begin the playoffs with the home advantage.

EV Zug – HC Fribourg Gottéron

19/01/19, 19:45 HC Fribourg-Gottéron – EV Zug 0 : 3  (0 : 1) (0 : 1) (0 : 1)
30/10/18, 19:45 EV Zug – HC Fribourg-Gottéron 1 : 4  (1 : 2) (0 : 0) (0 : 2)
25/09/18, 19:45 HC Fribourg-Gottéron – EV Zug 3 : 6  (1 : 2) (0 : 1) (2 : 3)

Let’s face it… Zug vs Fribourg Gottéron is not a very appealing game. Zug must mostly try to increase their level of play in view of the playoffs. Gottéron for their part are downhearted since they won’t make the playoffs. All Mark French’s troops can do, is try to finish this Regular Season with their heads held high.

Good luck to all the teams and enjoy 🙂
